Florine Frances Estes' Obituary
Florine Atkins Estes, 91, went home to her eternal reward on May 1, 2014. She was born May 7, 1922 to the late Frank and Beulah Atkins of Sperryville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward M. Estes. Just last year she lost not only her brother, but her dearest friend, Elmer Atkins. Her brothers Roxie, Robert, Jimmy, and sister Geneva preceded her in death. Her beloved nephew, William Lee Atkins died in 2008.
She is survived by her two nieces and their spouses, who she considered as her own children, Beverly and Larry Conner of Woodville and Judy and Joel Cress of Sperryville. Also surviving is her loving niece and husband, Shirley and James Bennett of Madison Heights, Virginia.
Florine and her husband, Ed, owned and operated Estes General Store in Sperryville for many years. After her husband’s passing, she was employed by IGA of Washington, VA and she retired from the Aileen Plan in Culpeper.
Traveling to various destinations in the U.S. with her family and dear friends was a great love of Flo’s. One of her hobbies was cooking and we will always remember the delectable treats she brought to our family table.
A Funeral service will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Culpeper with Rev. Joel Cress and Rev. John Heddleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Washington Masonic Cemetery in Washington, VA.
Pallbearers will be William Atkins Jr., Franklin Atkins, James Bennett, Charles Thomas, Robert Bennett, and James W. Keys.
