Evelyn Tibbetts' Obituary
Evelyn Tibbetts, a 14-year resident of Fredericksburg, Virginia, chose the beautiful morning of Friday September 29, 2017 to ascend to heaven. She had previously lived on Long Island in West Islip, NY for 38 years.
Born in 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, Evelyn graduated in 1955 from Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn and worked for the New York Telephone Company until 1961. After raising her two daughters, she worked for the West Islip Public Library until retirement.
Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her grandson, attending and volunteering at church, visiting Captree State Park & Marina, and watching the wild birds in her backyard. She was a welcoming person and openly invited family and friends into her life. She cared a great deal about the suffering of others and donated liberally. Evelyn was much loved by all whose lives were touched by her.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John; daughter, Donna and her partner, Jim; daughter, Lisa and her husband, Vinnie; grandson, Vincent Samuel, who ‘made her heart happy’; a sister, Barbara and her husband, Tommy from Tobyhanna, PA; and a sister, Louise from Manorville, NY.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother and father, Henrietta & Edward Eagleston; her sister, Irene Morrow, and her brother, William Eagleston.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 at Culpeper National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics at http://www.specialolympics.org/donate-to-charity.aspx or the Salvation Army at http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/ways-to-give/.
