I am not able to attend the celebration of life today honoring our wonderful Uncle Gene whose modest obituary gives little hint at the major impact he had on the lives of his family members. With his passing, I, along with numerous nieces and nephews, mourn the loss of a man who gave unconditional support to his family through all kinds of trials and tribulations. He kept his sense of humor and brilliant quips to the very end, showing a remarkable facility with his iPad for a man of 80 plus years, and general ability to keep up with all things modern... but always with an eye to the past. Most importantly, he gave us a foundation to turn to, when things seemed unsettled. Against a backdrop of his own physical ailments, his sacrifices for family are too many to count. We will miss him forever, every day.
