Eugene Louis Featherall Sr.'s Obituary
Eugene Louis Featherall, Sr., 89 of Spotsylvania County, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born on March 23, 1924 in Mayfield, PA.
He is survived by nine children, Barbara Hanlin, Ellie Beard, Marcie McIntyre, Frannie Parr, Toni Bennett, Eugene Featherall Jr., Mary Lewis Todd, Sue Pusinskas and Janet Woolfrey; a sister, Ann Daley; 15 grandchildren, Tom Cook, Mimi Beard-Shimmin, Keith Featherall, Chris Germaine, Sally Dickinson, Keith Parr, Steve Hall, Rainy Clymer, Angela Lewis, Jennifer Lewis, Adam Todd, Peter Pusinskas, Zach Pusinskas, Teresa Conley and James Woolfrey Jr.; seven step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Featherall; his mother, Mary Grace Featherall; his father, Ralph Santos Featherall; his daughter, Kaye Featherall; eleven sisters and brothers, Mary Laboranti, Kay Molinaro, Tony Featherall, Joe Featherall, Thomas Featherall, Antoinette Coggins, Ralph J. Featherall, Frances Fecina, Anthony Featherall, Eleanor Baker and Vincent Featherall and one step granddaughter, Jessica Parr.
Gene, as he was widely known, married the love of his life, Ruby Windsor, and with her, raised ten children. They were married for 62 years up until her death in 2006.
He served his country as a U.S. Marine in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was also a musician, playing the trombone in the U.S. Army Band while serving in the Army Reserves.
He went on to become a successful Air Conditioning Contractor and Master Mechanic, opening and running his own company, A&R Refrigeration for over 30 years. He will be missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels – Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Rd., Fredericksburg, Virginia. Private burial will be held at a later date.
