Ennis Julian Bawkey's Obituary
Ennis Julian Bawkey, 85,of Rixeyville died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at his residence. He was born September 16, 1922 to the late William Claud Bawkey and Fannie Esther Cobb Bawkey.
Mr. Bawkey served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Gourdvine Baptist Church and actively served as Deacon for many years and was a lifetime member of Amissville Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Bawkey and his wife were avid quail hunters and were well known for homemade apple butter and sweet pepper relish. He and his brother Johnny were field trial champions with their bird dogs. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and was known by friends and family as “Pop Pop”
He is survived by his children, Linda Somers Bailey and her husband, Eddie of Culpeper, Frank Lee Somers of Rixeyville, Chris Bawkey and his wife, Jodi of Rixeyville, and Cindy Bawkey of Rixeyville, his siblings, Lucy Bawkey Shaw of Mitchells, Rea Bawkey Berry of Viewtown, and Jamie Bawkey and his wife, Shirley of Rixeyville.
Additional survivors include his sister-in-law, Lill Bawkey, five grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, and Jeremy Bailey, Jessica Baumgardner and her husband, Chris Lee, and Christa Bawkey, and one great grandson, Cayden Christopher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Bawkey, and siblings, William Bawkey, Chrismon Bawkey, Dorothy Bawkey Dodson, and Johnny Bawkey.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 18, 2007 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rick Love and Pastor Paul Crawford officiating.
Interment will follow in Gourdvine Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Fincham, Dwayne Culp, Reves Gillespie, John Dove, Bubba Hitt, Levi Brown, J.B Carter, and Scott Chamberlin.
