Emory O. Findley's Obituary
Emory O. Findley, 81, died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Warrenton Overlook Health and Rehabilitation Center where he had been residing for the last nine years. He was born June 6, 1931 in Elbert, WV to the late John Wiley and Nina Cook Findley.
Emory was a former resident of Louisa and a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of the NRA and VFW and was a huge fan of NASCAR. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, garden and build stock race cars.
He is survived by his three children; Martha Jo Acker and her husband, Chip of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Mason of Cape Coral, FL, Emory O. Findley, Jr. of Louisa, VA and one step daughter, Peggy Henderickson and her husband John of Heathsville, VA; one sister, Irene; six grandchildren, Dustin J. Heizer and his wife Jennifer, Joshua J. Heizer and his wife Rose, David Hargis, Sarah Gaumond and her husband, Marc, Bill Kile and his wife Amy and Sarah Kile; and nine great grandchildren, Abigail, Aidan and Claire Heizer, Caleb, Noah and Chloe Heizer, Chloe Gaumond, Colton and Madison Kile.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Denver, Charles, William “W.P.”, Hilda, Ernest and James and one son-in-law, Sydney Scott Mason.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 2 pm at Culpeper National Cemetery.
