Emma Jane Pullen's Obituary
Emma Jane Pullen, age 88, of Culpeper went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her beloved family, on Friday, March 20, 2020 at University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born on September 12, 1931 to the late Jessie Settle and Virginia M. Settle.
Emma was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church, where she accepted the Lord as her Savior on April 7, 1985. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who showed unconditional love and had their best interest at heart. Emma was always very outspoken and ready to express her opinions. She worked her entire life, wearing several hats. Working in the sod field and selling firewood with family members, preparing meals for the elderly at the Baptist home, as well as maintaining a home as a housewife. Emma loved playing cards with her friends and family. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, and traveling with her family every chance she got. Emma was a beloved sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Braves. She also was George Jones’ biggest fan.
She is survived by her daughter Sheila Fay Baker, grandson Gary Knighting (her little blue bird), and Tammy Vitko, granddaughter Bethany Cubbage and her husband TC. Additional survivors include her four great granddaughters Kayleigh Knighting, Aubree Cubbage, Bailee Cubbage, and Charlee Cubbage, two sisters Ida Bailey “Babe” and Helen Mills “PeeWee”, as well as countless nieces and nephews. She also had a special friend Connie Cubbage. Emma’s family was the love of her life.
In addition to her parents Emma was preceded in death by her two sisters, Viola Pullen and Louise Fincham and two brothers George and Jimmie Settle.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 11 am in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Beeler officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tony Mills, David Pullen, Bo Settle, Rickey Settle, Tommy Settle, Stevie Fincham, Brandon Gue, and Paul Covington.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Emma’s name to UVA Health Center
