Elwood Williams, Sr.'s Obituary
Elwood James Williams, Sr., 89, of Fredericksburg died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Mary Washington Hospital.
He was born in Spotsylvania, Virginia to the late John and Ella Williams. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Elwood was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in Germany with 533rd Quartermaster Railhead Company. He worked for FMC where he retired after 32 years as a machinist and then went on to work for Spotsylvania County Public Works for 25 years. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid turkey hunter and a fisherman.
Elwood is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Pauline Williams; two sons, Gary and his wife, Beverly and Kevin and his wife, Anna; four grandsons, Evan, Nicholas, Andreas and Alexander; two granddaughters, Melissa and Jennifer and one great-grandson, Perry Lee Arrington, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Elwood Williams, Jr.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 12, 2007 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, corner of Courthouse Road and Southpoint Parkway. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 11:00 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Allensworth officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
