Elwood William Kern Sr.'s Obituary
Elwood Kern, Sr., affectionately known to his friends and family as “Red’ or “Tyke”, of Partlow, passed away Friday, November 22, 20019 at his home.
Elwood was a loving husband, father and grandfather. The love of his life was his wife Earlene, who also passed away recently. Elwood loved to be in social situations, whether it was at his job at the auto parts counter having discussions with the customers, or spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors as well, often taking walks in nature with his trusty walking stick. He would use those times to reflect on his life and his relationship with God. In his later years he enjoyed spending his time at home in his favorite chair and watching some TV with his family around him.
Elwood is survived by his children, Debra Frank (Willie) of Baltimore, MD, William Kern (Christine) of Texas, Elwood “Buddy” Kern, Jr. (Bethany) of Partlow, Crystal Furrow of Fredericksburg, Debbie Curry of Maryland, and Amber Marrow (David) of Fairfax County; siblings, Sharon Kern, Carrol Bunyea (Hugh), Joyce Dickinson (Eugene), Ralph Kern, Jr. (Sharon), Patricia Leizear (John), and Bonnie Billingsley, all of Maryland; grandchildren, Devin, William, Joanna, Bayley, and Logan; and numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Earlene, who passed last month; and his parents, Ralph and Florence Kern.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg.
