Elsa G. Rippey's Obituary
Elsa G. Rippey, 87, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Mary Washington Hospital. She was well cared for by the hospital staff in her final days, and attended by her family.
Elsa is survived by three of her four children, Alice Sandage of Spotsylvania County, Greg Rippey of Kemah, TX, and William Rippey of Gaithersburg, MD; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle, Jessie, Katie, and Sarah. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorena who died in 1997.
Elsa was born and raised in Mansfield, MA, one of a family of 11 children. She completed US Navy Registered Nurse’s training after high school, and met her husband, William H. Rippey while they were both in the Navy. William had a 27 year career, including the primary profession of aviator, rising to the rank of Captain, and died in 1975. Elsa practiced as a registered nurse for 20 years, primarily on the pediatrics ward of Fairfax Hospital.
Elsa will be interred with her husband and Lorena in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
