Elmer Lee Hitt's Obituary
Elmer Lee Hitt, 80, of Culpeper died on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born on July 28, 1929 in Rappahannock County to the late John and Nettie Smith Hitt.
Mr. Hitt had a simple life that he loved whether it was sitting on his front porch or working in his phenomenal garden, even until last year, which was well known throughout town. He was very proud of his garden and there were articles and pictures that were done in his honor. He was a hardworking, strong, tough man. Mr. Hitt was the oldest of three children being very devoted to his family. He loved his wife dearly, adored his son and cherished his granddaughters greatly.
He is survived by his son, Michael Lee Hitt, two granddaughters, Erin Michele Hitt and Jami Michael Hitt and his daughter-in-law, Michele Hitt.
Mr. Hitt was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hitt and two brothers, Otis and Richard Hitt.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bernie Jernigan officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Hitt, Richard Hitt, John Hitt, Randy Hitt, Jeffrey Hitt, Jason Hitt and Michael Hitt.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America
