Elmer Jackson Haynes' Obituary
Elmer Jackson “Jack” Haynes, 74, of Culpeper died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born July 17, 1939 in Charlottesville to the late Willie J. and Edith M. Knighting Haynes.
Mr. Haynes was past president of Northern Virginia Fox Hunters Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and a classic car enthusiast. Many knew him as “Jack”, “Redbird”, “Bird” and “Birdie”. Above all, his greatest love and enjoyment came from spending time with his family whom he cherished.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances Kay Herbert Haynes; three children, Jeffrey Todd Haynes and his wife, Jennifer of Rixeyville, Sonya Kay Sisk and her husband, Jason of Madison and Cherie Lynn Haynes and her significant other, Gene of Culpeper; and four sisters, Margaret Cromer, Bessie Finnerin, Mary Ryder and Betty Bennett.
Additional survivors include eleven grandchildren, Summer Johnson and her husband, Demetrick, Tucker Sisk, Jacob Thacker, Valerie Thacker, Caleb McCloud, Jackson Wyatt McCloud, Jack Ethan Haynes, Makayla Hawkins and Eric Lindsey, Will Craighead and Jeffrey Cole Craighead; and six great grandchildren, Kimora Harris, Demarli Johnson, Delilah Johnson, Brooklyn, Layla Belle and Jolie Beth Craighead.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Charles, Howard and Leroy Haynes; and one sister, Elva Jenkins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 1 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Richards, Tommy Richards, Bo Cromer, Dick Butler, C.J. Haynes, Russell Dodson, Ken Ryder and Michael Richards. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Haynes, John Finnerin, Mike Finnerin, Donnie Ryder, Troy Bennett and Bobby Martin.
