Ellis "Bootie" Smith's Obituary
Ellis “Bootie” Smith is in “God’s Care” now as of Sunday, May 18, 2014 while at Virginia Beach, with his loved Vietnam brothers and sisters beside him. He was born in Fauquier County, VA on July 5, 1948 to the late Ellis Gibson and Myrtle Lee Smith.
Bootie was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church in Amissville, VA. He loved the Lord and always helped others anywhere that he was. He served his country as a proud Marine and was an honored charter member of Vietnam Veterans of America Piedmont Area Chapter 752 in Culpeper, VA and was a retired firefighter of Vint Hill Farm Station in Warrenton, VA. Bootie cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed fishing in his dear friend’s pond.
He is survived by two sons, Jason Howard Smith and his children, Isabella, Kaiden, Evan; Jonathan Matthew Smith and his wife, Onnie and their children, Jonathan, Drake and Dalton. Additional survivors include three sisters and brother, Bobbie Coffey and her husband, Ray, Peggy Stringfellow and her husband, James, Janice “Peewee” Cooke and Sam Thompson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2 pm at Forest Grove Baptist Church, 258 Forest Grove Rd. Amissville, VA with Pastor Mark DeAngelis officiating.
Interment will follow in Forest Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
