Ellen Toombs' Obituary
Ellen Lee Toombs, 76, of Spotsylvania County passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at her home.
She worked for many years as a seamstress at Morganstern’s Pants Factory. She loved to garden, crochet blankets for her family and she collected frog and turtle figurines.
Ellen is survived by a daughter, Debbie Cockran and her husband, James of Pennsylvania; her granddaughter, Heather Cockran; five brothers; eight sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Bessie Toombs; her long time companion, Glenn Hilty; her brothers, John K. Toombs, George M. Toombs, Donald R. Toombs and Leonard Toombs and a sister, Bessie Tate.
Ellen’s family will receive friends Friday, August 28, 2009 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service celebrating Ellen’s life will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Bob Schultz and Robin Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Ellen’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
