Ellen Marie Mayhugh's Obituary
Ellen Marie Mayhugh, 58, of Sumerduck, died Monday, February 10, 2025, at Novant Health UVA Culpeper Hospital. She was born December 20, 1966, in Fairfax, VA to Bess Hemperley Sullivan and the late John Oliver Hemperley.
Ellen graduated from Fairfax Christian High School. She worked for Fauquier County for 13 years after being a stay-at-home mom. She was a Team Mom for 10 years in Sumerduck and was a Cub Scout Leader. Most of all, Ellen was a devoted grandmother, affectionately known as Grams to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kurt Lee Mayhugh; one son, Nicholas Mayhugh, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer; three grandchildren, Wyatt Mayhugh, Dalton Mayhugh, and Cole Mayhugh; her mother; two brothers, John Ashley Hemperley and Will Robert Hemperley; one nephew, John Ashley Hemperley, Jr.; and good work friends, Rochelle Ferguson, Kelly Noe, Michelle Wolfe, Dana Rucket, and Maggie Sekyer.
In addition to her father, Ellen is preceded in death by her sister, Amy Hemperley-Pittman.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Chris Ryman officiating.
Interment will follow at Bright View Cemetery, Warrenton, VA. Pallbearers serving the family will be Jesse Lynn “Red”, Dwayne Perry, John Ashley Hemperley, Jr., John Ashley Hemperley, Sr., William “Cody” St. John, and Will Moore.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Ellen’s memory to your local SPCA.
