Ellen Teresa Foster's Obituary
Ellen Teresa Foster, 68, of Culpeper, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born on December 18, 1956, to the late Edmund J. Brown and Mary Flynn Brown in New York.
Ellen grew up in New York before moving to Virginia in the late 1980s. She was affectionately known as “the hostess with the mostest", a title that reflected her passion for the restaurant business and her love of connecting with others. Ellen approached every evening with the enthusiasm of an opening night, bringing warmth and joy to all who crossed her path.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Clark Foster; her children, Brian Daniel Foster and his wife, Melissa Sefton Foster, and Abigail Foster Baet and her husband, Uriah Olarte Baet; her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Daniel and Lily Ann Foster; her brother, Edmund J. Brown and his wife, Rhonda; her sister, Mary Beth Howath and her husband, Robert “Bob”; and a large circle of extended family and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her twin sister, Patricia Brown Magsamen.
A celebration of Ellen’s life will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to local charities that nurture youth through performing and fine arts programs, honoring Ellen’s lifelong passion for encouraging children to follow their dreams and share their talents.
