Elizabeth Tuttle's Obituary
Elizabeth (“Betty”) Nell Huitt Tuttle, 82, of Culpeper, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, December 13, at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Tuttle was born in Claremont, NC, Feb. 27, 1926, to the late Garland E. Huitt and Fanny Little Huitt. She was the youngest of four children.
She graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, NC, with a major in business education. After graduation, she taught at Hickory High School for 4 years. She left that position because of her husbands work. Later, she taught 12 years in the Culpeper School system.
Mrs. Tuttle was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church for over 45 years. Also, she was a member of the Women of St. Lukes, a Charter member of the Culpeper Women’s Club, a member of the Culpeper Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of the Ladies Golf Association at the Culpeper Country Club.
She is survived by a family who adored her: a daughter, Sheila E. Tuttle and her husband Dr. William S. Brown, of Fort Ann, N.Y., a son Stephen K. Tuttle, of Newport News, VA, a grandson, Jason D. Cadoret and his wife, Sarah, of Ballston Spa N.Y, and 2 nieces and 3 nephews. She is also survived by many friends who will miss her kind heart, her warm and giving character, and her positive and uplifting spirit.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Kenneth D. Tuttle, 2 sisters, Mrs. Frances H. Hollar and Mrs. Miriam H. Rowe, and a brother, Powell S. Huitt.
Interment will follow at the Culpeper National Cemetery.
