Mrs. Mitchell was my favorite teacher. My fondest memory was her tears when our Algebra class (the new math) was just not understanding. I always believed that it really wasn’t her fault and I appreciated so much that she allowed us to see her struggle; we all were struggling together. Such a significant picture that I have always carried with me.
I was fortunate to know Ashby through Culpeper Baptist Church and through the Academy of GArdeners Garden Club. She was a great lady and I always admired her. Anne Moore, Waynesboro, VA

Dear Martha, Mac, and family,
We send sincere condolences for the loss of dear Ashby. She welcomed us to the Blue Ridge neighborhood when we first arrived and continued to be a special part of our lives throughout the years. We are saddened that we are unable to honor her by attending her funeral service. You all will be in our prayers, and we are very thankful that we had the privilege of knowing such a dear neighbor.

Mrs. Mitchell was one of the best teachers I ever had. I can remember her smile and help in Trig. She was an example that helped me want to be a teacher. I taught for over 25 years and truly enjoyed carrying on the tradition she showed us everyday. I wish there were more like your mom today! May God keep you and hold you close.
