Elizabeth "Jake" Farrar Cassidy's Obituary
Elizabeth “Jake” Farrar Cassidy, 97, of Culpeper died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at her residence. She was born January 21, 1921 in Fluvanna, VA to the late William and Arlene Wright Farrar.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert L. Cassidy, MD; and daughter-in-law, Cathay Cassidy.
Mrs. Cassidy was a member of Culpeper United Methodist Church, Calfee Garden Club, and the Culpeper Country Club. She was also a member of the Culpeper Hospital Pink Ladies and the Alma Bragg Methodist Church Ladies Group. She was a Cub Scout leader, chairman of the March of Dimes for 11 years, and was former Miss Fluvanna. She played basketball in high school, loved wildlife, loved life and people and never met a stranger.
She is survived by three children, Robert L. Cassidy, Jr. of Fluvanna, William S. Cassidy and his wife, Deborah of Virginia Beach, and C. Gayle Benhase and her husband, Jerry of Culpeper; one brother, Wallace William Farrar; four grandchildren, Christopher Cassidy, Seth Feaganes and his wife, Catherine, Andrew Cassidy and his wife, Chelsea, and Ashleigh Adams and her husband, Jason; and five great grandchildren, Kairi and Tristan Feaganes, Ella Grace Cassidy, and Jorden and Hunter Adams.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at Culpeper National Cemetery with Pastor Randy Orndorff officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to March of Dimes Foundation, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 673667, Marietta, GA 30006 &/or Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
