Eleanor Rae Perry's Obituary
Eleanor Rae Jones Perry, 82, of Stafford County died on Friday, April 29, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Edward Mason Perry.
Eleanor Rae was born and raised in Fredericksburg and was the daughter of the late John Raymond Jones and Alice Jacobson Jones. She is survived by her six children, Susan Havasy and husband Charles of Fredericksburg, Janet Mikionis and husband Ken of Powhatan, Dana Gallahan and husband Phil of Richmond, Lisa McCue and husband Jim of Powhatan, Jason Perry and wife Kathryn of Port Haywood and Matthew Perry of Richmond. Twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren knew her as “Grandmommy”. Survivors also include her brother, Raymond Jones of Goodyear, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor Rae was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was proud of her family. She was a longtime member of Aquia Episcopal Church and enjoyed the many friends she made there while singing in the choir, serving on the vestry and participating in the Saints Mary and Martha Guild.
Eleanor Rae attended Mary Washington College, married and taught fourth grade for a number of years before returning to complete her bachelor’s degree while expecting her fifth child. She taught Home Economics in Prince William County and Stafford before retiring. Eleanor Rae enjoyed sewing and cooking, and her homemade pies were always a favorite dessert at family and church gatherings. She was an avid bridge player.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Aquia Episcopal Christian Formation and Fellowship Building. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Aquia Episcopal Church. A private graveside service will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Aquia Episcopal Church, noting “New Building” in the memo portion, Box 275, Stafford, VA 22555.
