Eleanor Christine Orton's Obituary
Eleanor Christine Nalls - Orton, known to her loved ones as Ellen, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, in Spotsylvania, Virginia, at the age of 89. Born on June 23, 1934, in Appomattox County, Virginia, Ellen was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Ellen will be remembered for her honesty, kindness, and caring nature. She was a gentle and loving soul, both inside and out. Her beauty radiated from within, touching the lives of all who knew her.
In her professional life, Ellen had a diverse career. She began as a fashion and lingerie model, showcasing her grace and elegance. Later, she transitioned to become an accountant at Kay Jewelers, where her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic shone through.
Outside of work, Ellen had a passion for gardening, writing poetry, and immersing herself in music and books. These hobbies brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity.
Ellen is survived by her loving daughters, Carol Johnson (Anthony), Lori Petrovitch (David), Robin Self, and Shelley Dumont (David). She also leaves behind her cherished sister, Betty Goode, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Toni Lundmark, Dustin McCroskey, Christy Lum, Lisa Lum, Bronson Sarver, Thomas Blankenship, Clifford Blundo, Ryan Blundo, and Nathan Blundo; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lum; her first husband, Johnny Nalls; her second husband, Richard Orton; as well as her sisters, Shirley Overby, and Mary Sloan; her brother, Howard Mann; her mother, Irene Sloan, and her father, Alfred Mann.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
Mom loved flowers but also supported Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, SPCA, Compassion Rescue, and the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. These organizations held a special place in Ellen's heart, and your contributions will honor her memory and support causes she cared deeply about.
Ellen will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and beauty will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
