Eldred Louis "Robbie" Roberts' Obituary
Eldred Louis (Robbie) Roberts, 74, of Culpeper went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born January 29, 1938 in Saranac Lake, NY to the late Noble Joseph and Blanche Brusso Roberts.
Robbie served in the United States Air force for 8 years. He then became a member of the Fairfax County Police Department, retiring in 1988.
He survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan Scott Roberts and one daughter, Melanie Kay Roberts-Elbert and her husband Steve J. Elbert of Culpeper, two grandchildren, Samantha LaCoda Sjurseth and Shelby Layne Sjurseth, and two sisters Lorraine Wilcox of Port Charlotte, FL and Marie Tallman of New Britan, CT.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by one sister, Gloria Schuler and two brothers, George and Richard Roberts, also his special Aunt and Uncle Ernest and Estelle Barber and mother and father in law Bert and Clarence Scott whom he dearly loved and respected.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Rev. Sandy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Fairfax County Police Department, Fairfax County Sherriff’s Department and Culpeper American Legion Post 330 Firing Squad.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Youth Group, 1200 Old Rixeyville Rd. Culpeper, VA 22701.
