Eino Melvin Siira's Obituary
Eino Melvin Siira, 91, of Culpeper, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born in Brandon, Minnesota, to the late Iver Siira and Katie Olson Siira.
Eino spent his life working in the field of agriculture. He worked for the Dekalb Corn Company in Iowa and later as a county agent in Benton County, Minnesota. He then became an agricultural extension agent for the U.S. State Department, United States Agency of International Development (USAID) in 1957. He worked with the Ministries of Agriculture and the local farmers in the countries of Libya, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Panama. He retired in 1978.
Eino is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Celine Siira and their five children; Edward Siira and his wife Joan of Springfield, Cynthia Siira of Culpeper, Robert Siira and his wife Ginger of Charlottesville, James Siira and his wife Sharon of Fairfax Station and Richard Siira and his wife Meg of Winchester.
Additional survivors include his nine grandchildren; Valerie Siira, Rebecca Berner, Michael Chedester, Leah Daffron, Katie Siira, Alina Siira, Rebecca Siira, Meron Siira and Aidan Siira, also four great grandchildren, his sister Edna Barsness of Brandon, Minnesota, and his brother Rudy Siira, of Peoria, Ill. Not to mention an abundance of friends and other extended family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Wesley and Oiva Siira.
A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
Inurnment will follow at a later date in Fairview Cemetery.
