Edward Wayne "Ed" Mudd Jr.'s Obituary
Edward Wayne “Ed” Mudd, Jr., 35, of Nokesville, VA passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2023 surrounded by his family at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge. Ed was born May 22, 1988 in Richmond, VA to Crystal Nicole (Carroll) Childs of Partlow, VA and Edward Wayne Mudd of Nokesville, VA.
His most favorite and treasured times were spent with his girls. They enjoyed having all day movie days, play fighting, and going fishing, but most of all they loved taking drives to the local 7-11 for ice cream together.
Ed enjoyed watching them be creative while drawing and coloring alongside his girls. One of his favorite memories he really cherished was when he worked with the girls assembling their Red Flyer wagon because he remembered making one with his grandad.
He started a Christmas tradition when Bailey was 6-7 holding her up and having her put the angel on the tree. That was something special to him to pass the angel to her and help her place it on top of the Christmas tree.
Ed is survived by his mother, Nicole Childs (Scott); his father, Ed “Wayne” Mudd (Kim); two daughters, Bailey Ann and Emma Nicole; paternal grandmother, Susan Mudd; four siblings, Brittany Childs Mastin (Curtis), Andrew Mudd, Alexis Childs and Jarrett Heflin; two uncles, Tom Smith (Crystal) and Michael Smith; and three aunts, Tina Nichols (Matt), Stacy Hill (David) and Danielle Duggins (Ralph). He was an uncle to Jacob and Jamey Mastin, and Skylar Mudd. Additional survivors include his cousins and second cousins, Ashley Fines (Jason; Delaney & Owen), Hunter Ford (Emma), Codey Curtis (Colleen), Meagan Thomas (Hunter; Colton), Courtney Beckley (Ben; Paislee), Trinity Beckley and Grayson Beckley.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ingrid Carroll; and paternal grandfather, Daniel Mudd.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd, Fredericksburg. A reception will follow at Vinny’s Italian Grill & Pizzeria, 11105 Leavells Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
