How lucky was I to have had the privilege of knowing Ed. We shared a passion for fishing. Ed always had a smile for everyone and was one of the most intellectually engaging people I have ever met. He was always on the right side of human rights and the voice of the people. You will be sadly missed, my friend.

We lived in the same community of Kelly's Landing @ lake Anna with Ed & Pat. Always enjoyed seeing them both & their dogs Lucy & Hercules. When we would walk past Ed's house you could see he took pride in his home & cars & boat. Ed was like a big Teddy Bear to talk with. Loved reading the stories from his former students. I can imagine he was a great teacher to have & remember. Rest in peace Ed. The heavens just gained a beautiful person. Susan & Bob Vandervliet
Mr. Mitchell was my Graphic Arts I & Ii teacher at Middletown South, 1987-89. He was one of my very favorite teachers, for his kind nature and fun personality. I always remembered him fondly, and I'm sorry to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to his family.

I am so thankful to have been one those pulled to the side by Mr. Mitchell and reminded of my worth during my time at South. I remember him asking how I was doing as a new student..and then during my remaining years where he’d offer the open invite to come chat. The last time was when I returned during my college freshman year for Homecoming. I came to let him know how much I was enjoying being a student at his Alma matter, North Carolina A&T. Thank you for your wisdom and patience (especially to those kids who would try to smoke in the film development room) . In the pre-internet, pre-high tech days, his class was a weird and exciting gold mine of ideas. Those strange Mac computers with the discs you had to put in a plastic shell, the dark room, and that one time I came to class and Mitch was cooking Scrapple on an an electric griddle. Huh? He was a great guy.
What a wonderful man, had the pleasure to listen to so many great stories.. Definitely one of a kind.. RIP.. Glad you were their for us at Thompson JR HS. Pamela Levay
