Edward Lee Hewitt's Obituary
Edward Lee "Pops" Hewitt, 76, of Spotsylvania passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Edward was the son of Mr. James Lenox Sr. and Myrtle Lenox and was born in Fauquier County on December 25, 1941. Edward served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged. He married Betty Jo Ryan.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; a son, Robert E Hewitt; and a brother, Stevie Lenox.
He is survived by a son, Michael H Hewitt; grandsons, Robert L Hewitt and Ryan M Hewitt; brothers, George “Bugs” Lenox, Roger Lenox Sr., James Lenox Jr, and Everett “Snipe” Lenox; two sisters, Bessie and Gloria Lenox; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Edward, affectionately known as “Pops” was a truck driver for a local construction company for fifteen plus years. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities, including caring for his flock of laying hens and various other animals. He was also known to spoil the family dog, Cody Brown, a chocolate Labrador Mix.
Edward’s family will receive friends for an evening visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
