Edward "Edd" Howard Perryman's Obituary
Edd Howard Perryman, 85, of Culpeper, finished his apprenticeship here on earth and went to meet the Master Carpenter on February 10, 2014. He was born on November 18, 1928, in Culpeper County to the late John William and Myrtle Bailey Perryman.
During Mr. Perryman’s life, he was employed as a rural mail carrier, a fuel distributor for Moore, Kelly, and Reddish, and a heavy equipment operator for his brother, George. He retired in 1990 after 20 ½ years as a wood yard manager for the Westvaco Corporation. Following retirement, he enjoyed gardening, mowing, relic hunting with his son-in-law, Chip, fishing with his son, Michael, playing pool, spending time with his family, and especially woodworking in his shop. There are several homes in Culpeper and Madison that have furniture that originated from his shop. Mr. Perryman was a longtime member and former deacon of Stevensburg Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving and faithful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. His many visitors during his recent illness are a wonderful testimony to the strong relationships he formed over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Thelma Carpenter Perryman; two children, Michael Ray Perryman and his wife, Christine, of Madison, Debbie Perryman Frye and her husband, Chip, of Culpeper; two grandchildren, Aaron Michael Perryman and his wife, Holly, of Charlottesville and Lauren Ashley Frye of Culpeper; two sisters, Laura Perryman Brown and Maude Perryman Taylor, both of Culpeper; and a host of other family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Myrtle Miller, John Perryman, George Perryman, Charles Perryman, and Lucy Laird; and a granddaughter, Casey Lynn Frye.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, from 6-8 PM at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at Stevensburg Baptist Church on Friday, February 14, 2014, at 2:00 PM with Reverend Philip A. Walker officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Stevensburg Baptist Church, 19393 York Road, Stevensburg, VA 22741.
