Edward Broadus' Obituary
Edward “Leroy” Broadus departed his earthly life on Monday, December 6, 2010, in Columbia, SC at the home of his daughter, Joyce Broadus Lewis, where he had resided for fourteen years. He shared his life with family and friends for 83years.
Lovingly called Leroy by his family, he was born February 14, 1927, in Orange County to the late Willis McKinley and Mary Ernestine Phillips Broadus. He was educated in Culpeper County, Virginia and later Montgomery County, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Anise Ford, Mildred Dixon, Mary Lou Pollard, Lillian Dorsey and one brother, Berline Broadus. Left to cherish and treasure his memories are his daughter, Joyce Broadus Lewis and husband Jefferson Lewis of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Justin Lewis of Peoria, Illinois and Julian Lewis of Clarksville, Tennessee. He is survived by one brother Willis Broadus (Gladys); sisters Mariah Brown and Willard Tinsley (Forrest). His nieces and nephews will forever cherish and appreciate the heart of love that their uncle had for them. He left a sweet imprint on the lives of his many friends.
The family will receive friends at Ebenezer Baptist Church from 6-8pm on Saturday December 11, 2010.
Funeral services for Edward L. Broadus will be held at 3pm Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lignum, VA with Pastor Douglas Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
