Edith Virginia Ellington Green's Obituary
Edith Virginia Ellington Green, 94, of Slate Mills died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at her residence. She was born September 29, 1912 in Culpeper, VA to the late Edward Ellington and Carrie Vaughn Ellington.
Mrs. Green was the oldest member of Slate Mills Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for forty one years. Mrs. Green enjoyed making crafts, going to yard sales, and was a wonderful cook.
She is survived by her two sons, John D. Green and his wife, Violet of Sperryville, Stephen W. Green of Slate Mills and his friend, Jan Thomas of Culpeper, one sister, Mildred Wehmas of Richmond, her sister-in-law, Byrd Greene of Cincinnati, OH, her longtime best friend, Charlotte Gaines, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward William Green, two sons, Donald Edward Green and William Kyle Green, and two brothers, Edward Maurice Ellington and William Marshall Ellington.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. Virgil Wilson and Rev. Sandy Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Kilby, Mike Duncan, Joe Keys, Virginus Weaver, Curtis Weaver, Bernie Jenkins, Buck Harris, Robert Fairfax, Danny Goolsby, Richard Jenkins, and Randy Ellington.
