Edith O'Neal Atkins' Obituary
Edith O’Neal Atkins, 96, of Spotsylvania County passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at her home.
Edith loved spending time with her family and going to church where she was a long time member at Round Oak Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Edith was a devoted wife of 60 years to her late husband, Eugene Atkins. She was sweet, loveable and a kindhearted woman who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edith is survived by her sons, David Atkins (Jo) and Gary Atkins (Shirley), all of Spotsylvania; three grandchildren, Katie Whitt (Jay) of North Carolina, Karey Atkins (Cris) and Cameron Atkins (Dana), all of Richmond; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Avery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; and her sister, Louise Seay.
Edith’s family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, with the funeral service to begin at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers, Edith’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Round Oak Baptist Church, P.O. Box 129, Corbin, VA 22446 or to Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 101, Spotsylvania, VA 22553.
