Earn Rudolph Yeargin's Obituary
Earn Rudolph Yeargin, 85, of Culpeper died Wednesday, January 18, 2017. He was born on October 3, 1931 in Louisburg, North Carolina to the late Robert and Ludie Stroud Yeargin.
He is survived by his wife, Darling Anderson Yeargin, two children, Dena Y. Lillard of Virginia Beach, VA and Barry K. Yeargin and his wife, Cathy, of Zion Crossroads, VA, four grandchildren, Cagney and Cody Lillard, Danny and his wife, Samantha, and Dylan Yeargin, and one brother, Carl Yeargin, and many nieces and nephews of Hampton, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Calley L. Lillard, and six siblings.
Earn Yeargin, best known to all who knew him as “Earnie,” began his adult life by serving in the army during the Korean War where he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant First Class. In honor of his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Following his military service, he started his career with C&P Telephone Co. which spanned almost forty years. Earnie’s work ethic and dedication to his career was admired by all who knew him.
In 1955, Earnie and Darling Anderson entered into a marriage that lasted almost sixty-two years. Their love for one another was true and unbreakable. Earnie’s daughter, Dena, and son, Barry, admired and loved their father. They will carry the values that he instilled in them throughout their lives. His five grandchildren adored their “Pa.” His laughter filled their lives with an abundance of joy.
Earnie dedicated his life to serving the town of Culpeper in many different capacities. Throughout the years, he served as president of the Board of Directors of the Culpeper Country Club and Culpeper Hospital, as an usher for the Culpeper United Methodist Church, as president of the Rotary Club where he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, for his volunteer and community involvement, and lastly as “President” of the men’s coffee club.
Earnie’s hobbies included woodworking, poker, spending time with his grandchildren, and golf. Almost any day, rain or shine, Earnie could be found on the golf course. The last afternoon of his life was spent playing golf.
Earn Yeargin will be deeply missed by all of those he laughed with, lived for, and loved.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date with Pastor Randy Orndorff officiating.
