Earl Elliott Wright's Obituary
Earl Wright, 86, of Stafford County passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Earl retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1991, after 36 years. After retirement, he owned Oysters and More. He enjoyed NASCAR, The Statler Brothers, Emmy Lou Harris, and the American Bald Eagle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Wright; his sister, Becky Hancock; and sister-in-law, Cynthia Wright; daughters, Tammy Hancock (David) and Traci Wittig (Kenn); stepdaughter, Tabitha Dimeo (Dave); grandchildren, Sarah Hancock (Carl), Rachel Ebron (Michael), David Hancock, Zachary Wittig, and Evan Wittig; step-granddaughter, Samantha Dimeo; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Verna Wright; his brothers, Aubrey “Otto” Wright and Maxie Wright; and his grandson, Thomas Hancock.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Stewart and Jennifer Hutcheson, Melanie Patterson, Wayne and Sue Surles, and Charles “Bootsie” Bullock for their support during his illness. Thank you to all of the neighbors who helped us during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Mary Washington Hospice, St. Judes, or Community Baptist Church.
