"Hello, Earl's Slaughter House" was embedded in my brain as I answered the phone. Working for years in the "family" business, I had the privilege of being nephew of the boss and working along side him. I always felt so blessed to have my birth dad and boss dad in my life. He influenced my life and work ethic for years and I have taken those life & work ideas throughout my life. I have always felt blessed to have been born into such a loving, caring family. Fun times were always had, whether volleyball or softball at a family reunion or just a cookout on a Sunday afternoon. The life lessons learned have been with me and will always be practiced the rest of my life; all attributed to the sets of parents that raised me. Thanks Uncle Neal for the love you gave and shared with me, both as uncle and boss. Love you...Nephew/son/friend David

I have so many great memories of my dad. I remember, when I was really young, and we lived in White Shop, my dad and I would make ice cream floats using R.C. Cola instead of Root Beer. They were so good. I remember watching t.v. downstairs in the Rec. Room at night. One night, The Sonny and Cher show was on. I was laying down with my head on my dad's lap. My parents said it was my bedtime. I begged them to let me stay downstairs with them for awhile longer and I would go to sleep on the couch. They agreed. I pretended to sleep while peaking through half-closed eyes to continue watching the t.v. show. Then after it was over, I remember my dad carrying me upstairs to bed. I so loved being near my parents all the time. I remember riding on my dad's lap whenever he would mow the grass with the riding mower. That was so much fun for me. Just being with my daddy. I also remember the year I received an Atari for Christmas. I was beyond excited! We got it hooked up and my dad and I played together. He got hooked on Pac-Man. I would come in the room and find him playing it. Lol The things we did together didn't have to be anything fancy. It was just the simple everyday things that we did together that made my childhood the best I could have ever asked for. We were blessed beyond measure to have a dad as awesome as he was. I've never missed anyone or anything as much as I miss my daddy. My heart aches. There is a void inside of me that will never go away. I love you daddy with all my heart and soul. I will miss you and think of you every second of every day. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My strongest memories of Uncle Neal are of his smile and his laughter and his enjoyment when telling a good story. Before my Dad had a pick-up he would occasionally borrow Uncle Neal's. I remember well getting to ride in that red Chevrolet. I remember too the day someone crashed into him at the crossroads below our house in Nokesville when he had the green and white Chevrolet. He had a quiet way of casually passing on wisdom without it seeming like he was giving advice. I'll miss him.

I remember hanging out at the slaughter house when I was little. I can also remember getting to go to the bowling alley sometimes where he was on a league. I remember Uncle Neil always joking around. For some reason, I specifically remember standing outside after church one time teasing him for being bald. I believe I told him he looked like roll on deodorant. He just laughed and joked back. He was always happy and loving. He would talk to everyone and make them feel welcome. I will miss his smile at the family reunions.

I would be mad and pouting about one thing or another and Dad would still end up making me laugh. Of course I would then fuss at him and tell him I was trying to be mad but he messed it up by making me laugh.

I have always been extremely proud of my Dad even when I was very young. I remember when he was watching me when my Mom was in the hospital because she just had my sister. He was getting me ready to go to the hospital and was curling my hair using tin foil. I thought it was very cool that my Dad was actually curling my hair, very cool that he was using tin foil and was so proud because I thought it turned out beautiful. Not sure if it actually did or not but through my eyes it was the best my hair ever looked.
