Douglas Wayne Fulkerson's Obituary
Douglas Wayne Fulkerson, age 63, of Colonial Beach, passed away at his home on June 19, 2026.
Doug lived a high energy life with open arms that embraced a large extended family, step-family, life-long friends and more. He is preceded in death by his parents, Janet L. and Elmer R. Fulkerson, Jr.; son, Kenny Wayne; and his brother, David L. Fulkerson.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving partner, Vickie S. Stanley; daughters, Vivian L. and Kimberly M. Fulkerson; two brothers and two sisters, Elmer Roscoe (Kathy) Fulkerson III, Sandra (Tom) Buckley, Veronica (Tim) OConnell, and Clarence (Connie) Fulkerson; as well as many who call him gramps.
Doug was a carpenter by trade, applying his skill to bridge work all over northern Virginia. He loved working hard and being outdoors and had the energy for it; often working small jobs on the side. When not on the job he had time to help friends, family and a stranger in need. He loved his cars (Ford Ranger) and had a gift for making most anything run. Life was a grand adventure for Doug; animated stories full of color, energy and sometimes a little exaggeration, were a part of time spent with him.
A Celebration of Life, “Hey, Hey!” will be held at a future date so that family and friends may gather to share stories, love and laughter in honor of Doug.
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." - A.A. Milne
