I was greatly saddened to learn of Doug’s passing. Over the years I worked in Rappahannock County, he was certainly one of the premier lawyers. I was always impressed with how he could practice law as a general practitioner as we all did in the early days. His beautifully written obituary certainly described his life. His service to his country, state, community, church, and family evince a life well lived.
On advice of my doctor in the age of Covid, I regret I will be unable to attend his service, but my wife, Barbara and I want you and all your family to know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

My heart is heavy with the news of Doug’s death. He was always the big brother to my dear friend Ann. He was kind and inclusive and an easy laugher! It was and is so interesting to know “The Baumgardner’s” as individuals, but also as a part of a family tribe“The Baumgardner’s” I have this lasting memory/vision of each of them holding back laughter, swallowing it, a sly grin with twinkling eyes. When I think of Doug, I think of family.
