Dorothy Dot Seekford Bawkey's Obituary
Dorothy “Dot” Madeline Seekford Bawkey, 73, of Rixeyville died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1933 in Manassas, VA to the late Calbert William and Viola Seekford.
Mrs. Bawkey was a member of Gourdvine Baptist Church for over forty seven years and a lifetime member of Amissville Volunteer Fire Department. Dot was well known by friends and family as “Memaw.”
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ennis J. Bawkey, her children, Linda Somers Bailey and her husband, Eddie of Culpeper, Frank Lee Somers of Rixeyville, Chris Bawkey and his wife, Jodi of Rixeyville, and Cindy Bawkey of Rixeyville, three sisters, Janet Chewning, Barbara Bellis, and Pat Beales, two brothers, William Seekford and Kenneth Seekford, and five grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, and Jeremy Bailey, and Jessica and Christa Bawkey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Seekford.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 12, 2006 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rick Love officiating.
Interment will follow in Gourdvine Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Reves Gillespie, Billy Singleton, Dwayne Culp, Levi Brown, Doug Miller, James Bawkey, Tim Bawkey, and Joe Fincham. Honorary pallbearer will be Lewis Mozingo.
