Dorothy W. Wood's Obituary
Dorothy W. Wood, 87, of Fredericksburg, VA went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Beloved wife of 70 years to David H. Wood who passed in April 2014, and daughter of the late Beatrice Orlove and Carlyle Weisiger of Alexandria, VA.
Dorothy was born and raised in Alexandria where she met her beloved David. They raised their five daughters, Linda Wood of Fredericksburg, Martha Butler (Gerry-deceased) of Damascus, MD, Patti Barse of Frederick, MD, Nancy Roundtree (Joe) of Gaithersburg, MD and Betsy Curtiss (Jim) of Fredericksburg. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and hospital auxiliary volunteer for many years. She also opened her own flower shop in Bethesda, MD and managed her husband’s construction business.
Remembered for the love she held for her family, animals and her sweet husband, David, who passed just four short months ago, she now joins him in Heaven where they are now together forever.
Dorothy’s family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels – Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Dorothy’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form or donations to your local SPCA.
