Dorothy Mae "Dottie" McConchie's Obituary
Dorothy Mae “Dottie” McConchie, 71, of Rapidan passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 25, 1947 in Culpeper to the late Robert and Betty Brown Fincham.
Mrs. McConchie was a member of Crooked Run Baptist Church in Rapidan where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Dottie began her career as a bookkeeper for GC Murphys Company in Culpeper. She then worked as a bus driver for Culpeper County schools, was a former manager of Subway and most recently was a loyal volunteer and former manager of the Culpeper Hospital Thrift Store. She was a devoted and loving wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, neighbor, thrift store manager, and former church treasurer. Dottie wore many hats on a daily basis but above all, she always put others first.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Glen Walter McConchie; one daughter, Lorrie Anne McConchie Gilman (John) of Culpeper; one brother, Robert “Bobby” Fincham of Rapidan; two grandchildren, John “Brandon” Gilman (Kimberly) of Orange, and “Justin” Kyle Gilman (Cassidy) of Culpeper; one great grandson, Holden Lane Gilman of Orange; and one brother-in-law, Raymond McConchie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Glenda McConchie Jones; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Fincham.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Crooked Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Ronnie Plaster officiating.
