Dear Mrs. Lightener, I am so glad our lives touched even if only for a very short time. You are so missed already. As I told you before, "see you!".
The most wonderful Aunt anyone could ask for! I will miss you greatly. I know that you are with George and David and just like your beautiful smile in this picture you are smiling down on all on us. Rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. This was one of my most loved memories of time with you at one of the Gardner family reunions.
What a joyful picture of Aunt Dorothy Jean! She and Uncle Charles moved throughout their day and life quietly, dilligently and thoughtfully. Both shared their interests from church to volunteering at the hospital, their love and adoration for their two wonderful sons George and David, from planting plants to producing wines, from collecting civil war relics to creating delicate egg-shell ornaments. Enjoying the passing of time and demonstrating to the rest of us how sweet life can be in the little things...moments shared even in silence. May your spirit continue to soar and peace be with you, Aunt Dorothy Jean!
The Alsop Sr. & Jr. families wish to express our deepest sympathies and condolences. Mrs. Lightner always had a wonderful story to tell us about Edward Camp. We will never forget, rest in peace in God's loving arms.
My Aunt Dorothy Jean was a real sweetheart and will be missed greatly, but I know her spirit is close by. Always giving to others. When I lived out that way a few years back, she would share some of her fruits of labor with me from Uncle Charles garden.
Also, remember another time after David past away. She gave me this huge and beautiful hand made quilt. Not just any hand made quilt, but one she had made herself with so much love, for David, her son. To this day, I still have that quilt. My girls loved that quilt, but I would never part with it. It's a part of her and a part of David because he was the first recipient and originally made for him. Also, she would make Christmas decoration to hang on the tree. My tree always had Aunt Dorothy Jean's decorations hanging on it. It was the love she shared, most amazing. Love you Aunt Dorothy Jean.
