Dorothy Lea (Eby) Jedele
January 22, 1931 – October 31, 2023
Dorothy Lea (Eby) Jedele, 92, of Aroda, Virginia, formerly of Bradenton Florida, passed away peacefully October 31, 2023.
Dorothy was born in Napoleon, Michigan where she grew up and became a high school business teacher. In 1978, she and her husband, Dick, moved to Florida. Dorothy worked for Blake Hospital in Bradenton, Florida until her retirement. Dorothy and Dick were active in their condominium community and helped their older neighbors with chores and rides. Dorothy was an avid reader enjoying historical and political topics. She followed world events closely and could vigorously discuss them. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, helping in the choir and office organization. Her love of music was apparent and was a source of joy and comfort to her always.
Dorothy is survived by her nieces, Deborah Penwell (Lanny), Wendy Wilcox (Kenny), Pamela Gormley (Nathan Brown) and her nephews, Micheal Smell (Marcia), Craig Eby (Rachel), Dean Eby (Chris) Daniel Melvin (Teri Litavsky), Brent Eby (Brenda) and twenty-one great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Jedele; brother Don Eby (Lois); sisters Katherine Smell (Walter) and Darlene Melvin (Billy).
A graveside service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida at a date and time to be determined.
Her family thanks the staff at Mountain View Nursing Home for the excellent physical, emotional and spiritual care given to our aunt during the last year and a half of her life. The stories you shared with us are so helpful and your tender touch and words of love to her made her difficult journey easier.
