Dorothy Martin Green's Obituary
Dorothy Martin Green, 88, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at Autumn Care of Madison. She was born December 18, 1926 in Stevensburg to the late Edgar and Agnes Siebert Martin.
Ms. Green worked in customer service for L.R. Waters and Wells Fargo and most recently as a sales clerk at Peterson Jewelers. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women, the Culpeper Library Board and Commissioner for the Culpeper Town Planning Commission for 8 years. She was a member of Lael Baptist Church and Sunday school teacher at Culpeper Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, caring for her beloved cats and always took great pride in being a good neighbor.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Green Baise and her husband, Gary H. of Falls Church, VA; two sisters, Ann Martin Browning of Madison and Charlotte Martin Scott of Suffolk, VA; sister-in-law, Myra H. Martin of Bryson City, NC; nieces and nephews, David M.W. Brown and his wife, Maryanne of Manassas, Vance M. Carroll and his wife, Lianne of Midlothian, and Karen Browning Rice and her husband, Rick of Madison; and great nieces, Victoria Brown Fox and her husband, Jay of Front Royal, Elizabeth Martin Brown of Manassas, Valerie C. Carroll of New York, Michelle K. Carroll of Arlington, Kristen and Rachel Miller of Charlottesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, James E. Martin and Thelma M. Hawkins; one brother-in-law, A. Wayne Hawkins; one niece, Andrea Carroll Saunders; one nephew, Kenneth R. Brown; and the father of her daughter, George L. Green, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will start at 11 a.m. with Rev. David M.W. Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Vance Carroll, Glen Carpenter, John Clatterbuck, Jesse Powell, John A.B. “Butch” Davies and Roger Suder. Honorary pallbearers will be William E. Martin and Rick Rice.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Autumn Care for their compassion and dedication shown to Ms. Green during her stay.
