Dorothy Ann Weaver Beck's Obituary
Dorothy Ann Weaver Beck, 90, of Boston, Virginia, passed away on April 13th, 2026, at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born in Boston, Virginia on January 4, 1936, to Chester Jackson Weaver and Dorothy Pauline Brown Weaver. She grew up in Boston with a large extended family. After high school, she moved to Fairfax, where she met her future husband, Roy Beck. After their marriage in 1958, they began their 63 years together in Fairfax, where Mrs. Beck performed secretarial duties for AAA and worked as a police officer and crossing guard for Fairfax County Schools.
In 1967, Mrs. Beck moved with her husband and son, Kenneth, back to Rappahannock County, where they built their home next to the house where she was born. Their second son, David was born in 1968. Over the years, Mrs. Beck took art classes with her sister, Betty, and together they sold their artwork at Craft Fairs throughout Virginia. She also received an Associates Degree in Interior Design. Mrs. Beck was a Lifetime Member of Salem Volunteer Fire Department.
Mrs. Beck enjoyed cooking, reading, painting, gardening, and traveling with her husband and her sister, exploring places such as Niagara Falls, Las Vegas, Biloxi, Atlantic City, St. Louis, Bermuda, and many other locations.
Mrs. Beck's home was a safe haven for neighborhood kids, friends of her sons, friends of her grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She had only one rule, no yelling or raised voices directed at anyone.
Mrs. Beck is survived by her sons, Ken (Kim) of Tampa, Fl., and David (Amanda) of Boston, Va. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Keleah Hedges, Gabriel Beck (Abbie) and Tyler Soden (Naomi), and Matthew, Faith and Erica Beck, along with her great-grandchildren, Shaiyler, Prim, and Peri. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Betty, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband (who died in 2021), Mrs. Beck has been reunited with her grandson Mathias. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Bobby and Jack.
The family expresses deep appreciation to members of the Salem Volunteer Fire Department for helping to honor Mrs. Beck's last request to be at home, and the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont for their compassion and expert care during Mrs. Beck's last days.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
A private internment at Culpeper National Cemetery will be held at a later date. The family has entrusted Found and Sons Funeral Home with the arrangements.
