Doris F. Ruth's Obituary
Doris F. Ruth, 83, of Fredericksburg passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Greenfield Assisted Living.
Doris was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Hiawatha Chapter for over 60 years, Order of the Amaranth and Eastland United Methodist Church.
She volunteered at Mary Washington Hospital for many years. She was a former Girl Scout and 4-H leader.
She attended the New York College of Music and worked for the Gannett Newspapers and was a residential manager in California.
She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Ottley and her husband, Dennis of Stafford County and Roberta "Bobbie" Gaffney and her husband, Dan of Palm Desert, CA; two granddaughters, Maureen Gessel and her husband, Trent and Meaghan Gaffney; a great grandson, Braeden Gessel, all of Palm Desert; and a sister, Shirley Howard of Syracuse, NY.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harry V. Ruth; her parents, Guy and Flora Beatrice Fairbank and a brother, Bernard Fairbank.
Services will be private.
