Doris Charlene Babcock's Obituary
Doris Charlene Babcock, 79, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Charlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her life focused around her family. She was dedicated to the happiness of her grandchildren and children. Charlene retired from Electrolux after serving as the administrative assistant for 30 years. She was a devout Christian and a member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church. Her kind, tender hearted demeanor touched the lives of many. Her quick wit and sense of humor kept people entertained. She will be greatly missed.
Charlene is survived by her husband of 40 years, Lionel “Lucky” Babcock; her children, Gail Brimer (Lee) of Louisa, Billy Garrison (Tony) of North Carolina, and Jenny Glasgow (Dave), Pam Clayton (Mark), and Kim Dubin, all of Spotsylvania; 13 grandchildren, Tracy, Rachel, Andrew, Brittany, Courtney, Chelsea, Stephanie, Robbie, Hannah, Zachary, Nathan, Troy, and Aaron; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Mann and Joseph Mann (Judy), all of Maryland; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other close family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Edna Mann; brother, William Mann; and sister, Joyce Mann.
Charlene’s family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2021 at Travelers Rest Baptist Church, 6823 Partlow Road, Spotsylvania, with a funeral service beginning 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Charlene’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Travelers Rest Baptist Church, 6823 Partlow Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22551 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2217 Princess Anne Street #106-1F, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
