Doris Helen Austin's Obituary
Doris Helen Austin, 73, of Hartwood, died Friday, July 8, 2016 at 9:06 p.m. She went to be with the Lord and to see her husband she has not seen in almost 16 years.
She was born to the late Lewis and Albina Lague, of Johnson, VT. Doris and her husband, Neil moved from Lowell, VT to Manassas, VA in 1971.
Doris has six children, Joel and Anne Depeaux of Mechanicville, NY, Bobby Austin of Hartwood, Lisa and George Dunn of Hartwood, Tim and Christine Austin of Long Island, NY, David and Luz Austin of Oceanside, CA, and Marty Austin of Bland, VA, 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Marcell Lague of Triangle; sisters, Jeanine Taylor of St. Alban, VT, and Dianne Mercy of Troy, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 ½ years, Neil Austin; her parents; two brothers, Napolean and Henry; and two sisters, Dorilda and Pauline.
Doris’ family meant everything to her including her many close friends. She enjoyed tremendously, her Care Group she started 26 years ago in March of 1990. She loved camping, music and dancing. She attended Grace United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. She worked several years at Johnny’s Grocery, served seven years at Geico and worked at several restaurants. She took pleasure in meeting people’s needs. Due to her gracious & caring personality, she will be greatly missed by many. Her humility, kindness, strength, and wisdom is passed on through many generations and many more to come.
Doris’ family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow in Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery, 13056 Elk Ridge Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22406.
