Doretta French's Obituary
Doretta French of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, formerly of Fredericksburg, was born March 29, 1921, the daughter of MacArthur and Lorraine Eldred Daffan in Goldvein. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016.
Doretta is survived by her sons, Bobby French and Joe (Deb) French; grandchildren Kathy French, Lori (Walker) Nardozzi, Gary Walker and Claud Staples; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other loving relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Minor Willard, and her daughter, Carole Staples.
Doretta was a longtime member of Grove Baptist Church in Goldvein, where she was an organist for approximately 50 years. She had also worked more than 40 years at the Jewel Box in Fredericksburg, where she learned engraving and some watch repair skills. She retired from the jewelry business when she was 88 years of age.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Grove Baptist Church in Goldvein. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League/SPCA in loving memory of Doretta French.
