Donald Leo Short's Obituary
Donald Leo Short, 88, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away on March 26, 2019.
He was born in Dansville, New York, on October 12, 1930, the son of Clarence and Lillian Short. He graduated from Dansville High School in 1949. Don served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He earned a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
On September 15, 1957, he married Mae Olive Myran in Decorah, Iowa. He worked for 30 years in the Civil Service Naval Department as a graphic illustrator. He was a devout Christian who was active in the church. He was an elder and did pastoral care.
Don was an artist as well as an avid woodworker who loved making furniture for family and toys for his grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling and cherished spending many evenings playing challenging games of Scrabble with Mae.
Don is survived by his wife Mae Short; sons David (Susan), Thomas (Sindy), Randall (Laurie - dec), Douglas (Alison), Michael (Christine); 10 grandchildren; Sondra (Eric), Kevin, Nicholas, Sarah, Amy, Brandon, Ariana, Anna, Rachel and Abigail; and a great-granddaughter due in September. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Lillian Short, his brother Richard Short and sister Joyce Weidman.
