Donald Dunn Rutherford's Obituary
Donald Dunn “Donnie” Rutherford, 76, of Rixeyville, died Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Novant Health Systems UVA Culpeper Hospital. He was born February 16, 1945 in Rappahannock County to the late Harry J. and Esther Cora Rutherford.
Donnie worked at Country Chevrolet for many years as a mechanic and state inspector. He loved hunting, camping, working on cars, taking care of his chickens and helping others. He enjoyed singing and playing music. Donnie loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Bobby Rutherford (Sheila) and Richard Rutherford (Donna); two stepdaughters, Tabitha Dawson (Kevin) and Stephanie Jenkins; his best friend, Nancy Rutherford; three siblings, Betty Bruce (Solomon “Billy”), Roger Rutherford, and Joe Rutherford (Marsha); a sister-in-law, Nellie Rutherford; seven grandchildren, Edward Rutherford, Rachel Rutherford, Leah Rutherford, Jordan Dawson, Jaden Dawson, Blake Jenkins and Koby Jenkins; one great granddaughter, Adilynn Leuterio; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by four siblings, Bobby Rutherford, Esther Starner (Earl), Jackie Rutherford (Wanda), and Bill Rutherford.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Kevin Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Amissville United Methodist Church Cemetery, 14760 Lee Highway, Amissville, VA.
