Donald William Kelley Sr.'s Obituary
Donald William Kelley, Sr., 75, of Fredericksburg, was joyfully reunited with his eternal companion on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Donald was sealed to his beloved wife, Gail Hamlett Kelley on June, 22, 1973 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. In his early years, Donald was a dashing, motorcycle-riding young man who swept Gail off her feet. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and purpose.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and disciple of Jesus Christ, Donald lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. He was dedicated to temple work and sharing the gospel, always striving to uplift others with his testimony and example.
Donald worked for many years as a skilled brick mason and proudly built the home where he and his wife raised their family. Later, he became a cherished presence at Spotswood Elementary School and other schools, where he was beloved by students and staff alike in his role as a custodian.
He embraced life with boundless energy and creativity. Donald loved spreading God's word, singing, dancing, twirling ladies of all ages, gardening, genealogy, hunting, horseback riding, fishing, and biplane rides. He even fulfilled a dream by skydiving—an experience that captured his zest for life and adventure.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gail Hamlett Kelley; his parents, Archie and Floyd Kelley; father-in-law, Charles Hamlett, Sr.; brother-in-law, Langford Bosher; and nephew, Trey Hamlett.
He is survived by his children: Donnie (Jamie), Leah, Alison (Sam), Justin (Christen), Caroline (Justin), and Katie (Mike); his mother-in-law, Alice; sister-in-law, Sandra; brothers-in-law, Charles (Kim) and Jeffrey; 25 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 3 nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 PM on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 20 Boscobel Road, Fredericksburg, followed by burial at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund at
