Dolores F. Mahon's Obituary
Dolores F. Mahon, 91, of Spotsylvania, died at 9:21 pm on Tuesday, February 22, with hospice home care surrounded by loving family, after a short battle with Myeloma. She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. Grimsley, Sr. and Margaret (Maggie) L. (Harrison) Grimsley of Gunston, and two sons, Irvin Hunter Mahon of a Lorton and Roy F. Mahon of Fredericksburg. She is survived by a sister, Norma Corbin of Fredericksburg, and two daughters, Maxine Tierney of Montross and Susan K. Poston (Raymond Poston) of Spotsylvania, 12 grandchildren and 29 grandchildren.
Mrs Mahon was born and raised in Gunston, the daughter of a waterman/commercial fisherman, and was a graduate of the Class of 1948 at Mt. Vernon High School. She married and raised four children in the Fairfax/Woodbridge area, and was a career civil servant with the US Dept of Army at Ft. Belvoir and at US Army Materiel Command at Alexandria. She retired after 34 years of service and relocated to Fredericksburg in 1990.
Dolores loved being a mother, and was devoted to family and friends and was an active member of Salem Fields Church. She enjoyed cooking, history, art, travel, gardening and all activities with her grandchildren. She was adored by all who knew her, and is remembered for her kind and selfless nature and giving heart.
Arrangements are by Found & Son Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd, Fredericksburg 22407, Funeral at the chapel on Wednesday March 2, at 11:00 am, and graveside services immediately following for both Dolores Mahon and Roy Mahon at Pohick Episcopal Church Cemetery in Lorton.
